PROJECT: Multi-Product Port Improvement

|
Single pier facility under construction to handle iron ore
imports and export of hot briquette iron (HBI) and methanol.
Concern regarding economic level of berth availability under
design throughput conditions.
|
Principal Features:
-
Operation research analysis determined that pier occupancy
demurrages for handling methanol loading, ore unloading and
HBI loading at single and facility were not economically feasible.
-
Preliminary feasibility studies found that design modification
of ore pier and a new, separate methanol pier could be constructed
without increase in overall cost and schedule.
-
Designed modification to ore pier to accommodate vessels of
150,000 DWT with some warping required for the large ships.
-
Designed new methanol loading pier capable of servicing vessels
of 3,000 to 42,000 DWT on accelerated basis to provide construction
drawings to allow for uninterrupted construction progress.
