Soros Associates executed a Master Plan addressing the technical and economic feasibility of several ports. Work included operation advisory services, assistance with scheduling and budgeting, project preparation for financing, environmental assessment, design assessment and review of implementation plans.

The key features of this study included:

• Breakwaters and dredged entrance channels.

• Dredging of ship basins.

• Construction of flood-control works.

• Construction of general cargo terminals.

• Construction of container terminals.

• Construction of grain terminals and storage silos.

• Construction of multipurpose bulk terminals and storage buildings.

• Master plans for port-related industries:

  • steel mills:
  • fertilizer plants;
  • refineries;
  • power plants; and
  • miscellaneous small industries.
